Azerbaijan Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva discussed the landmine problem with Alessandra Roccasalvo, acting resident representative of the United Nations Development Program in Azerbaijan.

Publika.az informs that the Commissioner, speaking about the fact-finding missions carried out in our territories freed from occupation, stated that international law and international humanitarian law norms were violated as a result of Armenia’s occupation policy, the necessity of close participation of international organizations in eliminating the landmine problem caused by the occupation, special ad hoc reports were prepared and relevant international organizations, ombudsmen and national human rights institutions of foreign countries.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on possible cooperation perspectives within the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change – COP29, which will be hosted by our country this year. At the same time, the importance of active participation of national human rights institutions during COP29 was emphasized.
