Necaxa has a new shareholder. The Rays team can now also boast that one of its investors is none other than the actor Ryan Reynolds, star of the Deadpool films, the Variety portal revealed this Monday.
The objective with his arrival to the Aguascalientes team is to encourage the club to take on a stronger role in Mexican soccer and have more important exposure abroad.
But Reynolds does not arrive alone in Liga MX, along with him the American actor Rob McElhenney also joins, who as a duo already know what it is to bet on a sports project.
In the middle of 2020, both Ryan and Rob became owners of the Wrexham Association Football Club, a Welsh football team founded in 1864 and nicknamed the ‘Red Dragons’.
Eva Longoria, key in the arrival of the actors to Necaxa
The source who announced this news also highlighted that Eva Longoria (who is already a shareholder of the Rayos) was key for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to join the Necaxa investor group in Liga MX.
It should be remembered that just on Sunday, Eva was present at the Victoria Stadium for the duel between the Rayos and Monterrey, which culminated in victory for the Rayados (2-5) in activity on Matchday 17 of Clausura 2024, the last of the regular phase of the Mexican tournament.
Necaxa, for a ticket to the Liguilla in the Play-In
The Rayos del Necaxa did not manage to get directly into the Mexican Soccer League, so they will have to look for that ticket from the Play-In.
Those led by Eduardo Fentanes finished in ninth place with 27 points and will have to face the Gallos Blancos del Querétaro in the coming days as the first step to be able to qualify for the Fiesta Grande.
