Head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergei Naryshkin visited North Korea. The Russian intelligence service announced the visit on Thursday (March 28). SVR reported that Sergey Naryshkin visited Pyongyang on March 25-27. His visit was first reported by North Korea’s state media KCNA.
Naryshkin also met with the country’s State Minister for Security Ri Chang Ye during this three-day visit.
Russian state news agency Tass reported that they discussed improving the international situation, ensuring regional security and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Meanwhile, KCNA said that there was a discussion between the two sides on increasing cooperation in countering the enemy’s espionage and conspiratorial actions.
Putin has deepened ties with North Korea since launching an all-out attack on Ukraine in 2022. However, the United States and its allies have condemned this. They alleged that North Korea had provided missiles to Russia for use in the Ukraine war.
However, the two allied countries blasted such criticism of the West. Russia says they can build relations with any country. Strengthening cooperation with North Korea will not violate international agreements.
