Rumors about the implementation of Citizenship Act in India – 2024-03-13 01:48:25

Rumors have started about the implementation of the Citizenship Act in India. The Citizenship Amendment Act may come into effect on Monday (March 11) night itself. It is known that the ordinance may be issued by the Modi government on Monday at 10 pm local time.

However, another source said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is going to announce this. In the past few months, several BJP leaders have claimed that the Citizens Amendment Act or CAA is going to be implemented in the country very soon.

Months ago, Amit Shah said that CAA is important for India. Surely this law will be brought. It will also come into effect before the Lok Sabha polls. Although Narendra Modi did not speak loudly about CAA during his visit to West Bengal.

In 2019, the Modi government passed the CAA in the Parliament after coming to power for the second time. Under this law, the country will only grant citizenship to non-Muslims who left Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh before December 31, 2014.

Earlier, several public interest cases challenging the Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA (2019) have been filed in different courts of India. On December 18, 2019, the first hearing of the petition against the CAA began in the apex court. After the Citizenship Amendment Bill was passed in Parliament on December 11 of that year, protests started across the country. After that, however, the bill became law on January 1, 2020.
