Rubiales, investigated for Super Cup contracts in Saudi Arabia, avoided an arrest warrant

Luis Rubiales He could not be detained during the search of his home in the city of Granada because he had been residing in the Dominican Republic for just over a month. The former president of the RFEF is in the Caribbean country from where he is working after the FIFA sanction where he is prohibited from having any employment relationship with football. From there, he defended his innocence, again, admitting that he never did anything wrong during an interview in El Español.

Specifically, contracts are being investigated for the celebration of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia through the company Kosmos, of Gerard Piqué, which would have taken a commission of 24 million euros. No address or office linked to the former FC Barcelona footballer is being registered.

“Surprised”, this is how the former RFEF leader appears with the course of the investigations surrounding the years of his mandate and with the ‘Super Cup Case’. And from the Dominican Republic he assures that he has “never done anything wrong” and that he also claimed “not to know anything” about everything that is being investigated. Although he still wants to calm everyone down with a phrase: “When you ask me, I will answer everything.”

The judge will summon Rubiales and his friend ‘Nene’, with whom he is on the Caribbean island, to testify in the next few hours. According to the accused, he is willing to collaborate: “The sooner everything is clarified, the better for me,” he says. Although, if necessary, the Prosecutor’s Office will request an arrest warrant for both if they do not return from the Dominican Republic of their own free will, although they hope that they will do so voluntarily.

Since last Tuesday the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard, together with Europol, began searching the headquarters of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, as well as Rubiales’ house in Granada, the offices of the La Cartuja in Seville, among other places of the eleven homes in which they have executed the judicial requirements.
