Román Cepeda retains mayoralty in Torreón

With a historic citizen participation of 68 percent, Román Alberto Cepeda González won his re-election as mayor of Torreón for the next three years, which he said he will dedicate to responding to the trust reflected in the polls with commitment, work and results.

Until 01:50 a.m. this Monday, with 88 percent of the minutes counted, the candidate of the Citizen Alliance for Security (PRI, PRD and UDC) had 153,281 votes in his favor, which represents 46.4 percent. percent of the total votes, a difference of seven percent over the standard bearer of Morena and PT, Shamir Fernández Hernández, who obtained 130,046 votes, 39.4 percent.

With the PREP results in his favor, Román Alberto Cepeda declared himself the winner of the electoral contest and thanked the people for their trust, pointing out that “we were in the hands of the citizens and we had the trust of the vast majority,” and invited those who did not vote for him to join his project.

He pointed out that Torreón will remain safe, growing and advancing and that he will continue working in coordination with Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas, to project the city towards the year 2040.

According to the PREP, the PAN candidate, Sergio Lara, came in third place, with 17,384 votes; José Ignacio Corona, from the PVEM in fourth place with 8,795 votes and Jorge Torres Bernal from MC in fifth place, with 6,914 votes.
