Yesterday, a serious road accident occurred on National Road 4 (RN4), 70 km from Maevatanana. Two 4×4 vehicles collided head-on while traveling at high speed. The accident occurred on a tight bend, making a collision inevitable. The impact was so violent that both vehicles suffered heavy damage.
The passengers of both vehicles were injured and were quickly transported to the nearest Basic Health Centers II (CSB II) to receive medical care. The police quickly went to the scene to establish the facts and provide assistance to the victims. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
The authorities remind national road users to be particularly careful, especially during this holiday period when road traffic is denser. Many vehicles are heading towards the provinces, which pushes some drivers to drive faster to reach their destination on time. However, the often poor state of the roads, fatigue at the wheel and alcohol consumption are factors that can increase the risk of accidents.
