Riyada Awards for Digital Excellence reward the efforts of public institutions and ministerial sectors

The culmination of a busy path for the second edition of “GITEX Africa Morocco 2024” was embodied in the announcement by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform of the winners of the “Riyada” Award for Digital Excellence in its first edition (Riyada 2024) during a joyful ceremony hosted, on Friday evening, May 31, by the “main platform” for the largest technological event. According to what Minister Ghaitha Mazwar announced, in her speech before distributing the coronation plaques, the “Riyadah” Award aims to “encourage and reward the best digital administrative initiatives in order to shape a digital future led by e-government,” and it concerns three categories: open data, and the electronic record. -Registres, and electronic services (E-services), with a committee of experts from the public and private sectors focused on selecting the services that won the “Riyada” Award according to the criteria of innovation, impact on serving citizens, and contributing to the digital transformation of public administrations.

Mazour recorded, with a tone of pride, that “this award is directed to all member departments of the RAED network “E-gov Network and Digital Ambassadors” (“Réseau des Ambassadeurs de l’E-gov et du Digital”), noting that “the first edition of “Riyada” Awards were awarded to many public departments and institutions for their exemplary initiatives in several categories and services.”

“Open data”

In the “Open Data” category, five “encouragement awards” were presented, won by the Ministries of Economy, Finance, Justice, National Education, Primary Education, and Sports, as well as the Ministry of National Territorial Preparation, Construction, Housing, and City Policy, and the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy “for their efforts to enhance transparency and access to data for citizens.” And companies.”

The “National Open Data” portal, Data.gov.ma, includes more than “580 data sets published by 38 producers on the portal, recording more than 90,000 downloads and more than 1,200,000 views per page.”

The “Electronic Records” category was awarded two “Excellence” awards, one of which was awarded to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), and the other went to the Ministry of Equipment and Water.

The “Courts” initiative also enabled the Ministry of Justice to obtain an excellence award in this category. This portal offers many services, including “the electronic application service and delivery of certificates from the commercial registry and the criminal registry, the online filing of summary statements for professionals, and the service of application and delivery of the Moroccan citizenship certificate, which was recently launched in January 2024,” with “about 23 One million visitors and more than 6.6 million visitors in the first three months of 2024.”

During the “Riyada 2024” ceremony, the “Jury Prize” was awarded to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Communication for its mobile application “Pass Jeunes,” which is “an application that provides young people with advantages and easy access to many cultural, sports, commercial, financial, and other services throughout the Kingdom.” Through API integrations, access to these services is simplified and consolidated into one store (more than 215 thousand registered youth).

The selection of the winners in this edition came “after conducting a careful evaluation and rigorous scoring process, led by a committee of experts,” and the judging panel, composed of members representing high-level organizations, including a representative of the head of government, associations and federations such as “AUSIM” and “APEBI” and CGEM, a technical expert, evaluates applications “according to the criteria of innovation, impact, and contribution to the digital transformation of Moroccan public administration.”

“With warmth,” the Minister of Digital Transition did not fail to congratulate the winners on their “outstanding contributions to the modernization and efficiency of public administration,” considering that “these exemplary initiatives are evidence of the commitment and talents of Moroccan administrations in promoting digital innovation and e-government.”

She concluded by saying, “The Excellence Awards for Digital Public Services were an opportunity to highlight distinguished digital services for citizens today, and also to honor and encourage employees who work very hard in this field, and this is a positive dynamic so that we will have better and more services in the future.”
