Rhodes / Prosecutor’s intervention regarding the dozens of dead deer at the deer farm – EDE ordered

The intervention of eisaggeleos of Plimmeliodikon caused by the tragic images from the Municipal Deer Park of Rhodes, with the dozens of dead deer and the complaints about the unacceptable living conditions of the animals.

More specifically, according to “Dimokratiki”, the Criminal Prosecutor of Rhodes, Ms. Emilia Sofia Meri, ordered the police department, the conducting a preliminary examination to investigate the possible commission of the offenses of animal abuse and dereliction of duty. The public prosecutor of Plimmeliodikon Rhodes gave specifics written order at the police station, which had already been conducting a preliminary examination with a verbal order since Sunday.

It was specifically requested in the context of the preliminary examination that they be taken statements from staff of the Dodecanese Forest Directorate, from members of Philozoiki Rhodes and to provide color copies of photographs of the dead animals and the living conditions of those who lived under unacceptable conditions. A police officer from the AT of Rhodes who went to the scene and saw the situation that had developed will also testify in this regard.

In addition, according to the same information was requested autopsy by the Veterinary Service and to receive statements from all the competent elected and official agents of the municipal authority of Rhodes.

At the same time, according to ERT, the deputy mayor of the Primary Sector, Costas Thomas, ordered the Sworn Administrative Examination, about the tragic situation at the Deer Farm. “The image in the Deer Park of Rhodes does not honor anyone,” he said, noting that the assurances of the competent agency about no feeding problem exempts anyone from responsibility for the shameful situation that is the result of abandonment and indifference for many months, even years.

At the same time, an order was given to start immediately cleaning and beautification of the surrounding area, to improve the living conditions of deer.
