François Beudard, director of the Association of Naturalists of Mayotte, presents the “Revue Gecko”, the new popular science journal dedicated to exploring the rich and unique biodiversity of the southwest of the Indian Ocean. The latest issue focuses mainly on the region’s mangroves and particularly those of Madagascar, crucial ecosystems for fauna and flora, while highlighting their importance in the fight against climate change. The journal also addresses the vital role of local communities in preserving these natural habitats, illustrating the interdependence between humans and nature. The objective of the Gecko magazine is to disseminate the practices that are put in place for the conservation of the region’s biodiversity by making scientific articles written more simply accessible to the general public.
