Real Madrid goalkeeper Thubo Courtois has been sidelined since August with a knee ligament injury. He returned to practice yesterday after a long time. This star goalkeeper of Belgium got a big injury again.
Courtois injured his knee again in Real’s practice on Tuesday. He was seen leaving the field crying due to the pain of the injury. Later, an MRI scan of his right knee revealed that Kartoa’s knee was severely damaged.
In a statement, Real said that according to Tuesday’s test results, Courtois has damaged the meniscus (the fluid inside the knee joint) in his knee. Because of which he will have to stay out of the field for 6-7 weeks.
Next April, Real will take on the Premier League club Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The La Liga club were expecting Courtois to return before this crucial match. But Real got big bad news by dropping this Belgian goalkeeper to practice.
Earlier on Friday, Real coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed optimism that Courtois and Brazilian defender Eder Milata will return to the team soon. Ancelotti also planned to play them a friendly match against Real’s junior team.
But since Courtois is out of action for 6-7 weeks, there is no chance of Real getting him in the team this season. Maybe the season will end due to this injury.
