This story took place on Tuesday March 12 in the Maevatanana district, Betsiboka region. On March 11 around 3 p.m., the Bevilany landline reported a case of violent theft in the locality. According to information provided by law enforcement, the victim is a 67-year-old woman. The criminal raped her while stealing her cell phone and a sum of 50,000 ariary. Recognizing his misdeeds, the alleged criminal indicated the place where he had hidden the stolen items. The following evening, the police took him to collect the items when he fled. To catch him, the police claim to have been forced to use their weapons.

The investigation revealed that in February 2022, the alleged criminal had already stayed in Maevatanana prison for rape. In 2023, he was also prosecuted for raping and killing two women in Ambalajia, also in the aforementioned district. That’s not all. His actions prove that he was a real danger to society. He has also already sexually assaulted a 75-year-old woman in Anaoasoa and another in Morafeno, still in 2023. He is said to have chosen death while trying to escape because he knew the penalties that awaited him.
