Renowned music director, composer and brave freedom fighter Sujay Shyam, soundman of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, has suffered a heart attack. He was admitted to the CCU of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital.
Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra’s Shabdasaiin and Music Artist Timir Nandi confirmed this to Jago News.
Artist Timir Nandi said, brave freedom fighter, Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra Shabdasaiin, Ekushey Padak awarded music director Sujey Shyam is admitted in CCU of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital due to heart disease. I am very saddened to hear this news. He is scheduled for an angiogram tomorrow (Saturday). I request everyone including the countrymen to pray and bless him for his speedy recovery.
Sujay Shyam has been working with music since the country became independent. Among the songs composed by him aired on Swadhin Bangla Betar during the liberation war are ‘Vijay Nishan Udche Oi’, ‘Rakt Diye Naam Kheychi, Bangladesh Naam’, ‘Aj Ran Saje Bajie Bishan’, ‘Muktir Same Path Sangam’, ‘Ore Ayre Tora Shon’, ‘Ayre chashi-mazur coolie’, ‘Rakta Chai, Rakta Chai’, ‘Aha Dhanya Amar’ are notable.
Sujeya Shyam won the first National Film Award for the music direction of the movie ‘Hashon Raja’ based on Hachhan Raja. He also lent his voice to a song of this film at the special request of filmmaker Chazi Nazrul Islam. Later, he received the same award in 2004 and 2010 by directing music for the films ‘Jayatra’ and ‘Abujh Bou’. He also received the Ekushey Padak for his outstanding contribution to music.
