From the beginning of her studies, alongside Rallou Manou, Rena Kabaladou has left her mark as an important entity in orchestral art.
An inspiring dancer, choreographer and teacher, Rena Kabaladou passed away a few days ago, having traveled a remarkable path in the art of dance in our country. While teaching, she was killed last Thursday morning when she tripped and hit her head badly. Her students and peers said goodbye to her today at noon at the Spata cemetery.
Sleek and charismatic, Rena Kabaladou from the beginning of her studies at the side of Rallou Manou and then as a first dancer in performances of the Hellenic Dance Drama in Greece and abroad makes her mark as an important entity in the orchestral art. With the establishment of its first school in Athens, it contributes to artistic education, while with its performances and tours abroad, it promotes Greek culture outside its borders. She collaborated with the National Theater as a first dancer, while she made her first “solo” appearance in Epidaurus in Euripides’ “Bacchies” directed by Alexis Minotis, while with Karolos Koun and the Art Theater she appeared in Aristophanes’ “Chickens” as “a unforgettable” Aedona. In 1983, he participated in the Athens Festival, choreographing the works “Immigrants” by Yiannis Markopoulos, “Andromache” by Giorgos Tsagaris and “Remorse” by Theodoros Antoniou, which he presented the following year at the events for Cultural Athens. She choreographed many shows for both the KTHBE and the Free Theater gaining the appreciation of important creators, who supported her efforts when she created her own dance group with Tsarouchi, Klouvato, Kampani, Leonti, Markopoulos, Spathari, Vassiliou trusting her their works.
He has choreographed 17 long ballets with the music of Hatzidakis, Theodorakis, Antoniou, Leontis, Markopoulos and others. With her group, she performed shows all over Greece, while in Naples she presented “The Bacchus” to the music of Christos Leontis. In 1981 he opened the dance school in Spata. She always stood by her students and colleagues with dedication, while her conviction was unshakable that the purpose of teaching children, apart from dance technique, is the general mental and emotional cultivation, self-confidence and the development of a sense of the whole and of the cooperation. Her group, which continued under the title “Ihor”, still maintains its doctrine and spreads the Greek spirit through the art of dance.
For her contribution, she was awarded the K. Pratsika prize.
