“Remotely” enhances the programming of Moroccan theaters

The Mohammed V Theater in Rabat is preparing to host the premiere of a new theatrical work entitled “From a Distance” next September. This work is also expected to be shown, with the start of the new season, in a group of national theaters.

Moroccan actress Farida Al Bouazzaoui, who plays the main character in this work, said that the latter includes some fragments of stories from the days of quarantine, and revolves around the concerns of an actress who lived alone during this period, so she tries hard to get out of her isolation by creating characters using makeup and publishing them on Facebook; in order to continue practicing her profession in another way, and in order to resist her separation from her husband who is trapped in the middle of the sea and her mother who lives far away in an apartment with her maid and a woman forgotten by society who evaporated from the street in compliance with the orders of the health authorities.

Al-Bouazawi continued, in a statement to Hespress, that the play “From a Distance” sheds light on four stories lost in the midst of the isolation of the stone, casting their shadows on other stories, past and present.

The same speaker highlighted that this new work is a world that attempts to combine the reality of existence and the virtuality of presence through external images and sounds, in a structure that relies on the composition of states in a fragmented manner that is united by a common thread; which is “the search for ways to resist isolation and the need to rearrange reality.”

It is expected that the segments of this theatrical work will witness an unprecedented idea in Moroccan theater, as the “live” technology will be used and some of the filmed scenes will be shown on a large screen on which the participating actors will appear and see their stories during the quarantine that imposed strict precautionary measures and prevented families from meeting each other to avoid the spread of the “Corona” virus.

The play “From a Distance”, written and directed by Massoud Bouhcine, features the participation of a group of actors, such as Hasna Tamtawi, Anas Al-Aqel, Raja Bouhami, and Salwa Al-Ghamari.
