Journalistic works that deal with health policy issues can be submitted until March 31, 2024.
Vienna (OTS) – The Austrian Medical Association is awarding a “prize for special journalistic achievements in the interest of the healthcare system” worth 5,000 euros for 2023. A jury appointed by the Austrian Medical Association decides on the award of the prize, although it can be divided into several publications of equal value. The application must be submitted informally by March 31, 2024 to the Austrian Medical Association, Public Relations, 1010 Vienna, Weihburggasse 10-12, or electronically to [email protected] with the note “Prize for journalistic achievements”. There are no plans to extend the deadline.
A maximum of five works of any kind and form by full-time journalists who deal with health policy issues can be submitted. It is also a prerequisite that employees of newspapers, periodical magazines, book and film authors as well as electronic media have their regular residence in Austria. Work that primarily or exclusively deals with medical-scientific issues or that has been published in scientific publications cannot be taken into account. The submission implies consent to the possible publication of the submitted work in the “Österreichische Ärztezeitung”, in “MEDIZINpopular” and in the press service of the Austrian Medical Association “Arzt-Presse-Medizin”.
The work must have been published in 2023. Publications can be submitted by the authors or the respective editorial team by post or electronically. A declaration must be included that all employees involved in the completion of the work are named in the title or in footnotes or in another appropriate manner. When submitting film and television productions as well as radio and online media contributions by post, they must be submitted on Windows-compatible data carriers. Enclosing a manuscript is desirable in both cases.
If there is no work worthy of an award, the prize may not be awarded. The members of the jury are sworn to secrecy.
The award is presented in a ceremonial manner by the President of the Austrian Medical Association.
