In terms of status, Italy is a member of the European Union. They are also known to be part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Looking at its territory, this country, which has its capital in Rome, shares borders with a number of other countries. These include France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, as well as two enclaves of Vatican City and San Marino.

1. Kristen
In its constitution, Italy does not specify an official religion as the state religion. This means that residents are free to choose the beliefs they adhere to.
Currently, Christianity is the majority religion in Italy. According to estimates by the CIA World Factbook, the figure has reached 80.8% in 2020.
The majority of Christians in Italy are Catholics. Meanwhile, other sects have fewer adherents, such as Protestants and Jehovah’s Witnesses.
2. Islam
Islam also has quite a large following in Italy. Some of them come from foreign countries such as Morocco and Albania.
In short, Islam is the second largest religion in Italy. Its adherents are estimated at around 4.9%.
