Registering an “army” of unemployed people in Israel within months

Unemployment rates have risen in Israel, and the number of unemployed has increased significantly within a few months.

According to the “Globes” newspaper, which specializes in the Israeli economy, the latest data issued by the “Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics” revealed a rise in unemployment rates in Israel, with the number of unemployed people increasing by 11,000 last January.

According to the data, the unemployment rate rose from 3.1% in December 2023 to 3.4% last January, which paints a difficult picture of the country’s workforce.

Statistics indicated that measuring unemployment rates included individuals who took unpaid leave due to the ongoing war, as the number of people on unpaid leave or absent from work last January reached 215,000 compared to 272,000 the previous month, while it reached 215,000 in the previous month. This number is 365 thousand in November 2023.

According to statistics, among those who were on unpaid leave or absent from work last January, 37% were performing reserve service in the army.

In the same context, a preliminary estimate by the Bureau of Statistics revealed that the “Israel” economy shrank by 19.4% on an annual basis in the fourth quarter of last year, and the bureau stated that the contraction recorded in the last quarter was driven by the deterioration of all sectors, at a time when the level of investment declined. By 70%, and according to the data, Israel’s economic growth slowed to 2% for the entire year of 2023 compared to 6.5% in 2022.

It is noteworthy that “Israel” summoned approximately 400,000 reserve forces to serve following its aggression on the Gaza Strip last October 2023, and also granted about 80,000 “Israelis” unpaid leave in the past months, according to what was published by the Zionist entity’s media outlets.
