Rieke said the ball is now in the court of three institutions after the Pilkada Bill was not ratified by the DPR Plenary Meeting yesterday. She said the first ball is in the General Election Commission (KPU).
He continued, the KPU is obliged to immediately change PKPU Number 8/2024 concerning the Nomination of Governor and Deputy Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent, Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
“For this reason, we urge the KPU to immediately complete the amendment to PKPU Number 8/2024 by accommodating all considerations and the Constitutional Court’s ruling which was read on August 20, 2024,” said Rieke in a written statement, Friday (8/23/2024).
Rieke continued, the second ball is in the DPR. Rieke said, the DPR must immediately schedule a consultation meeting with the KPU and the government to discuss the revised PKPU.
“To that end, immediately hold a consultation meeting between the DPR, government, and KPU and it should be remembered that in the meeting there is no room to change the Constitutional Court’s decision, thus the nature of the consultation meeting is only to fulfill the procedure for forming the PKPU which does require consultation with the DPR and the Government without changing the substance,” he explained.
Rieke further revealed the third ball in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham). She urged the draft amendment to PKPU Number 8/2024 to be immediately harmonized at Kemenkumham involving other related ministries and institutions until it is issued as a new PKPU, which is in accordance with the considerations and rulings of the Constitutional Court which was read on August 20, 2024.
He urged the government to immediately enact a replacement PKPU for PKPU No. 8/2024 which has been harmonized according to the schedule and stages of the 2024 Pilkada as stipulated in PKPU Number 2/2024.
“Thus, it must be issued before August 27, 2024. If by August 27, 2024, all the processes for drafting changes to the PKPU have not been completed or have not been enacted, then the KPU is still required to carry out the registration process for candidates for regional heads and deputy heads by referring to the Constitutional Court Decision as previously happened in the registration of presidential and vice presidential candidates in 2024,” he concluded.
