Red Cross of Angola has been paying wages for 12 months

The one hundred employees of the Red Cross of Angola began receiving, since Thursday, their salaries that were 12 months late, said today, Monday, in Luanda, the organization’s interim president, Elias Piedoso Chimuco.

The person in charge, who was speaking at a press conference, said that this action was possible after the life test carried out on employees across the country and guarantees that all salaries will be paid until the meeting is held.

Elias Chimuco took stock of his four months at the helm of the Red Cross, highlighting that he is leading the transition process until the 4th assembly takes place from the 23rd to the 24th of August, at the António Agostinho Neto Memorial.

Three candidates will compete for president of the organization. These are Alfredo Elavoco Pinto, Deolinda Bibiana de Almeida and Carlos Gourgel Rodrigues.

The 4th assembly of the organization will be attended by 120 delegates, of which 90 will have the right to vote (volunteers).

The event will be attended by international representatives, with emphasis on the International Federation of the Red Cross, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the Red Cross delegations from Portugal, Spain and South Africa.

Members of the regional delegation of the Red Cross in Nairobi (Kenya) and the regional delegation of the International Federation of the Red Cross will also take part and will act as observers.
