On World Recycling Day on March 18th, Generali is giving tips on how we can make a positive contribution to our environment through conscious consumption, repairs and recycling.
Vienna (OTS) – A smartphone fits in every hand, but its environmental impact is significant. The entire life cycle – from raw material extraction through production to use and disposal – requires a lot of resources. It is therefore important to extend the lifespan of our devices, thereby minimizing the ecological footprint and ultimately disposing of them in an environmentally conscious manner.
Generali Green Assistance supports this. The services are included in all newly purchased household and home products from Generali as part of the Tip&Tat package. They include, among other things, advice on optimizing the energy consumption of electronic devices, providing options for environmentally friendly disposal and support in selecting new purchases.
Gregor Pilgram, CEO of Generali Austria, explains: “Sustainability is the origin of our corporate strategy, but we also want to support our customers in shaping a safer and more sustainable future.” Generali Green Assistance is an example of these efforts and offers customers all aspects of Watch a professional advisory service.
Tips on how we can make a positive contribution through conscious consumption, repair and recycling:
- Extend the lifespan of devices
Protective cases, screen protectors and regular cleaning can help electronic devices last longer. Avoid extreme temperatures that can affect device performance and lifespan.
- Repair instead of throwing away
Repairs not only save resources, but can also be more cost-effective than buying a new device. Find out about DIY repair options or look for professional service providers who can repair broken items. - Pay attention to repairability and modularity
When purchasing new electronic devices, make sure that they are repairable and have a modular design. Define exactly which functions are needed in advance to avoid unnecessary new purchases.

Generali also promotes the circular economy in its own operational organization and, for example, relies on sustainable leasing of company cell phones. Currently, around 1,800 smartphones are being returned to their partner Econocom after many years of use. The devices are tested, repaired and prepared for resale. Defective cell phones that can no longer be used even after professional reprocessing are professionally recycled.
As a responsible insurance company and lifetime partner, Generali is gradually expanding its insurance solutions with ESG components and supporting its stakeholders on the path to a sustainable future.
