Record cold in the Oslo region. Heating failure near Moscow. People light bonfires on their balconies

-31.1 degrees Celsius: this is what thermometers showed in the Oslo neighborhood on the night between Friday and Saturday. This is the lowest temperature recorded at this location in the history of measurements. The freezing record was also broken in neighboring Sweden: in Naimakka the temperature was -43.8 degrees Celsius. The temperature dropped to -27 degrees in Russia’s Moscow Oblast. There was a heating failure there too. Residents began lighting fires on their balconies to keep warm.

The IMWM warns of snowfall and black ice

The Polish Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns of heavy snow and black ice in many regions of Poland on Saturday. In the Podkarpackie, Lesser Poland, Silesia, Opole and Lower Silesia voivodeships, as well as in the southern counties of the Świętokrzyskie and Lublin voivodeships, snowfall is expected, which will cause an increase in snow cover from 10 cm to 20 cm.
