MADRID, Spain.- Among the 20 finalists selected to represent Cuba at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant are well-known faces in the fields of modeling, entertainment and business. This diverse group includes prominent figures such as Alina Robert, Rachell Vallori, Marianela Ancheta and Elena Tablada, who bring a wealth of experience and talent to the competition.
Alina Robert, recognized for her participation in Univision’s “Nuestra Belleza Latina” in 2014, has built a career in theater and film, with roles in productions such as The cry of the butterflies (Disney+) and Planted, the film directed by Lilo Vilaplana inspired by the story of hundreds of Cuban political prisoners.
“13 years ago I entered a new world for me. It wasn’t just entertainment, it was the world of beauty pageants, and I discovered that behind what they had drawn for me, there was a lot of soul, a lot of commitment, responsibility and love,” the actress, born in Havana and resident in the United States since 2008, expressed on Instagram.
And she thanked the contest for “opening the door to the world once again to the Cuban Woman, to our ethnicity, values, leadership, empathy, flavor, tradition, ideology, culture, form, colors and taste.”
Rachell Vallori, another outstanding finalist who also participated in PlantedVallori began her modeling career at the age of 15 at La Maison in Cuba. Currently represented by the agencies NEXT and Wilhelmina in the United States, Vallori is known for her work with the Colombian firm Leonisa, which specializes in lingerie.
Marianela Ancheta, a model and entrepreneur based in Miami, is the creator of the Arma Face skincare line, launched in 2021.
Meanwhile, Telemundo correspondent for the program “Hoy Día” and winner of three Emmy awards, Arlety González Chile, will be another finalist to watch.
On the other hand, jewelry designer Elena Tablada, born in Madrid to Cuban parents, also aspires to be Miss Cuba. At 43, Tablada breaks with the stereotypes of beauty pageants, especially after Miss Universe removed the age limit and allowed mothers to participate.
“It wasn’t part of my plans, but my family in Miami has a lot of hopes for me and look, I signed up, although I think I’m outside the canons of what these beauty pageants are, but they have already changed and they wanted a person who was Cuban and why not,” she said on the program. Fiesta.
The participation of a Cuban representative in Miss Universe this year is historic, since the island has stopped participating in the pageant since the establishment of the dictatorship in 1959.
On September 15, 2024, the Miss Universe Cuba pageant will be announced when the 20 finalists compete in an event televised live on Mega TV.
