WKÖ-Gollenz at the 49th Federal Real Estate Day: “We urgently need measures for our SMEs on the real estate market!”
Vienna (OTS) – The 49th Federal Assembly of the Real Estate Industry in Bad Loipersdorf is all about finding solutions. “The sum of the negative effects of inflation, overly restrictive lending guidelines – keyword KIM regulation – as well as the massive decline in new construction and renovation from 2025 onwards will lead us into a serious crisis without countermeasures,” says Gerald Gollenz, chairman of the Association of Real Estate and Asset Trustees in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ).
Joint development at the Bundestag
“Almost 100 percent of our member companies are micro, small and medium-sized enterprises; only 0.6 percent employ more than 50 people. The Bundestag is now working together to address the most important issues. We need many new framework conditions in order to be able to continue working safely and thus protect our 26,000 employees,” said Gollenz.
Member survey and workshops
“During the two-day meeting in Bad Loipersdorf, specialist working groups will work on specific topics, while at the same time all members will be asked about the most pressing issues. The results and basic positions will be presented at a press conference on July 3,” said real estate spokesman Gollenz.
Policy positions will be presented on 3 July
“Today, Friday, at the end of the Bundestag, the answers from all members will be evaluated and incorporated into our positions,” said Gollenz. “Without rapid political countermeasures, not only will commercial construction sites come to a standstill in the coming year, but the real estate market will also stagnate. This year the market is still stable because supply is meeting demand,” said Gollenz. “The fact that we still have enough apartments on the market this year is because our SMEs alone have implemented two thirds of commercial residential construction nationwide in recent years. The numbers are currently falling dramatically. This must not continue under any circumstances!” Gollenz stressed in conclusion. (PWK262/ES)
