Victory was claimed by Norwegian biathlete Johannes Dahl-Sevdahl, who secured first place on the final lap.
Norwegian Vetle Shostad Kristiansen, winner of Saturday’s sprint, was the first to take to the track. After him, the Italian Tommaso Giacomel and the Norwegian Tarjei Bä took to the track, after 17 and 20 seconds respectively.
Kristiansen lost the lead after the last shot, which left him together with compatriots Johannes Tingens Bä and Dahl-Sevdal, German Justus Strelov and Frenchman Emilien Jaquelin. On the last lap the fastest among the top athletes was Dahl-Ševdal, who finished in 30 minutes and 38.0 seconds.
Christiansen lost 1.7 seconds, while Bae finished seven tenths later. Jaquelin was 7.2 seconds behind the top three.
Rastorgujev started with the number 17 one minute and two seconds after Kristiansen, while Birkenthal entered the track with the number 37, one minute and 36 seconds after Kristiansen.
Rastorgujev was accurate in the first lying pitch and moved up to 15th place, a minute behind the leader. Birkentāls was also infallible, returning to the distance in 38th place. Rastorgujev closed all five targets in the next pitch by lying down and moved up to tenth place, maintaining more or less the same deficit towards the leader, while Birkentals measured a penalty lap and after completing it was placed in 43rd place .
