The wife of the shot Martin Bojanov-Notariusa Gergana was a waitress in his private SS club before becoming an investigative police officer in the GDBOP. In addition, she entered the anti-mafia directorate through an unprecedented procedure – an external competition for appointment.
This was stated by former interior minister Boyko Rashkov in the program “The Day with Veselin Dremdzhiev”. He added that he does not know of another case in which GDBOP recruited employees in this way. The principle is that people are taken there from other directorates of the Ministry of the Interior.
Appointment and dismissal
On Thursday, the Ministry of the Interior released the order for the appointment of Bojanova. It is signed by Rashkov. However, the ministry failed to mention that he was firing her again.
The appointment competition was held long before that, Rashkov commented. According to him, this happened at the time when Hristo Terziyski, currently an MP from GERB, was the Minister of the Interior.
“The contest is over, there are a few people who have passed. The list also includes Gergana Bojanova, who is an external candidate, in the sense that she was not an employee of the Ministry of the Interior. And GDBOP does not have a single, as far as I know, external competition, they are all from the Ministry of the Interior, because they must understand at least a little about police work. And she was a waitress at her husband’s SS club. Obviously, it is not by chance that this competition was announced long before I became a minister, because my information is that there was a fairly strong relationship between Bojanov and the then director of GDBOP (Lyubomir Yanev b.r.)“, said Rashkov.
He added that he was obliged to sign the appointment order. Rashkov also said that at that moment he had no idea who the Notary was, but the GDBOP employees were aware.
Shortly afterwards, however, Bojanova was released because she was not cleared for classified information after the mandatory reliability investigation. The proposal was made by Kalin Stoyanov, at that time the head of GDBOP, and currently a minister. The order for her release was signed by Rashkov. Bojanova appealed and won the case in two instances. She never returned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs because she was already on maternity leave. The competition was announced at the time when the director was Lubomir Yanev, who headed the directorate even at the time of GERB. The appointment order was signed shortly before he was relieved of his post. The subsequent development took place during the time when Stoyanov was at the helm.
Shortly before her release from the GDBOP, the investigation of the “Anti-Corruption Fund” organization was broadcast, in which Bojanov was exposed as a lobbyist in the judiciary. Before it was filmed, Rashkov had meetings with Ivayla Bakalova, who told him about the influence of the Notary and the group around him.
It’s a secret
The Ministry of Internal Affairs claims that it cannot say whether Notarius was a secret collaborator. The reason, according to the Ministry of Power, is that the law forbade them, because it was a secret, and its release would be a crime.
The possible cooperation of the murdered Bojanov with the authorities has been talked about for months. Recently, former chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev announced that Bojanov was a secret collaborator of the Third Police Station in the capital.
The journalist from the “Anti-Corruption Fund” Nikolay Staykov wrote on Facebook that Bojanov was registered as an associate in 2005.
