A beautiful view is presented when the full moon passes over the peak of Merapi. The moonlight combines with the activity of Merapi which spews incandescent lava aka full moon eruption.
This beautiful natural phenomenon was also recorded by CCTV of the Geological Disaster Technology Development Research Center or BPPTKG Yogyakarta.
Meanwhile, Mount Merapi’s activity still shows lava avalanches and quite high seismicity. From observations on Thursday (1/8/2024) at 00.00-06.00 WIB, seismic avalanche activity was recorded 35 times.
Meanwhile, during 24 hours or 00.00 – 24.00 WIB yesterday, Mount Merapi was observed to have launched 12 lava avalanches towards the southwest with a maximum sliding distance of 1.8 kilometers.
Until now the activity level of Mount Merapi is still set at level three or alert. The public is advised to stay away from the recommended danger areas.
