Rare golden mountain turtle discovered in kindergarten’s fairy garden

Authorities have just received a rare golden mountain turtle. This animal had previously unexpectedly appeared in Tran Phu Kindergarten in Ha Tinh city.

On August 19, the Ha Tinh Mobile Forest Ranger and Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Team coordinated with the People’s Committee of Tran Phu Ward (Ha Tinh City, Ha Tinh Province) to receive a rare golden mountain turtle.

This golden mountain turtle was discovered by Ms. Vo Thi Phuong Chinh (Tran Phu Kindergarten, Ha Tinh city) in the fairy garden, in the school yard.

Ms. Chinh then contacted local authorities and forest rangers to hand it over.

After receiving it, the authorities handed over the golden mountain tortoise to Vu Quang National Park.

Professional staff of Vu Quang National Park are taking care of and monitoring the health of this individual before releasing it back into the wild to serve conservation work.

Golden mountain tortoise has the scientific name Indotestudo elongata and belongs to group IIB of the list of endangered, precious and rare forest plants and animals.
