Dharma Astala, and its surroundings have been focused on the cases of hundreds of women and girls who have been found dead or missing over the past years. Many cases were ignored or the police did not conduct a regular investigation.

About two weeks after the person was subjected to the complaint, the Karnataka state government set up a special investigation team to investigate the allegations.

In a horrific personal statement, the man said that he saw the bodies coming along the river and first thought that it was probably suicide or accidental drowning. But soon they saw that most of them were women, many of whom were naked or semi -naked and had signs of violence.

He alleged that he was first called ‘secretly disposal of the bodies’ in 1998. When they refused, they were beaten and threatened.

He said that they were told, ‘We will break your pieces. Your body will be buried like these bodies. We will sacrifice your whole family. ‘

He claimed that most of the bodies he secretly buried were young girls and women who were brutally sexually assaulted. Their clothes were torn. There were marks and other wounds to be burned with acid on the body.

In a very disturbing 2010 incident, the man said he was ordered to bury a girl who was estimated to be 12 to 15 years old.

He testified that ‘he was wearing his school uniform shirt but other clothes were missing. He had a school bed. There were clear signs of sexual assault on his body. There were signs to strangle on his neck. They dug me the pit and asked him to bury him with his school bag. That scene is still disturbing today. ‘

He also claimed that poor men were killed and buried in Dharma Astala. He said he was a witness to the killing of these people.

According to the lawyer, the bodies were not buried in regular cemeteries, but was buried on open land. “It was not a regular burial that was allowed by an authority, but it was irregular, invisible and illegal burial,” he said.

Vasal Blaler said he remained silent for years due to fear, but the ‘immense burden on conscience’ and the repeated nightmares became unbearable for them.

He said, “I can no longer bear the burden of memories of these murder cases, constant threats to bury the bodies and the pain of beating that if I do not bury those bodies, I will be buried with them.”

Dhan Jay said that Vasal Bloe’s claims present a picture of a location where the general laws do not apply at all.

“If this is true then you have to admit that if such a place goes missing, the police do not file a report.

“But just because we are unable to explain the past, we should not ignore the present.”

The lawyer said that Vasal Blaler took action himself in frustration with the police.

He said, ‘Before coming to us, they went to a grave, removed the remains and handed them over to the court.

‘Now the situation is that the court has half a picture. The remaining half depends on the police to take the person to the place where the remains were removed. But the police did not.

There is no case pending against this person. Nor was anyone looking for them. No one was looking for these bodies.

Karnataka State Commission for Women Chairperson Nag Lakshmi Chaudhry told The Independent that the formation of a special investigative team is a ‘important step’.
