A month ago, the Malagasy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation had the honor of welcoming the legend Royce Gracie. Ranaivo Radafy Andry, the shadow worker, played a key role in this achievement. After years of effort, he managed to convince this iconic figure of jiu-jitsu to come to Madagascar. This historic event was unique, as other major federations had not had this opportunity. Radafy’s deep love for this discipline runs through his veins; he is the son of Ranaivo Pierre, a former volleyball player on the national team. He united his destiny with that of a foreign woman and currently lives in Halifax, Canada, where he created his club 374MMA. “I have been involved in the world of jiu-jitsu for over 15 years. I started with taekwondo, then I chose to dedicate myself to gracie jiu-jitsu because of its effectiveness. This put me in contact with Royce Gracie. The plan to bring him to Madagascar is not new”, he stressed. This close relationship with Royce earned him the nickname ” King Julian “. Jiu-jitsu in Madagascar has evolved rapidly, as Ranaivo Radafy pointed out. The discipline is recognized for its psychological, physical and moral benefits. According to him, jiu-jitsu requires collective support and efforts, including unity in action, understanding and respect. His goal is to create a martial arts club that places great importance on gracie jiu-jitsu. At the moment, Ranaivo Radafy also practices boxing and kick-boxing to keep his body in shape.
