Rana Plaza not a mere accident: IBC – 2024-04-29 03:44:39

Ashutosh Bhattacharya, regional secretary of the Industrial Global Union, said that the incident at Rana Plaza was not just an accident. It is an ‘Industrial Homocide’. It’s been 11 years since the incident, but there is still a demand for justice for the guilty, which is sad.

He said these things at the discussion meeting organized by Industrial Bangladesh Council-IBC on the occasion of ‘Rana Plaza Tragedy Day’ organized at Dhaka Reports Unity on Saturday (April 27). IBC President AM Nazim Uddin presided over the event.

ZM Kamrul Anam, Amirul Haque Amin, Qutbuddin Ahmed, Mir Abul Kalam Azad, Shahidullah Badal, Ruhul Amin, Nurul Islam, Humayun Kabir, Nazma Akhtar, Tahmina Akhtar, Shahidullah Bhuya and others spoke at the time.

Ashutosh Bhattacharya said that only 7 percent of workers in this industry are organized. It is important to acquire knowledge and be aware to ensure all the rights of the workers. Must be united. Industrial is with you.

Meanwhile, the speakers demanded exemplary punishment for all those involved in the Rana Plaza accident including Rana.

Labor leaders said that the injured are complaining of lack of treatment. Medical board should be established on urgent basis to ensure treatment. The families of the victims and the injured should be rehabilitated with employment. The leaders demanded that April 24 be declared as a day of mourning and confiscation of the property of the convicts.
