Ramón Díaz is the new coach of Inter de Porto Alegre

Inter de Porto Alegre made official the arrival of Ramon Diaz as new technical director, replacing Roger Machado. The Argentine coach, accompanied by his son Emiliano, arrived in the city last night and sealed his bond with the institution until December 2026.

The debut of “El Pelado” is scheduled for this Saturday against Juventude, at 6:30 p.m., at the Alfredo Jaconi stadium. His election came after an evaluation process in which names such as Luis Zubeldiabut the Colorado leadership prioritized the Riojan’s vast experience and his ability to generate immediate results.

The agreement includes bonuses for objectives, including qualification for the next Copa Libertadores, the main goal of a club that seeks to once again occupy a place of relevance in South American football. With this addition, the management of Alessandro Barcellos adds his eighth bet on a coach in recent years, after the cycles of Abel Braga, Miguel Angel Ramirez, Diego Aguirre, Alexander Medina, Mano Menezes, Eduardo Coudet y Roger Machado.

With 17 titles in his career, Díaz arrives in Porto Alegre with the challenge of providing stability and international hierarchy in a Brasileirao that finds Inter in thirteenth position, with 27 points: one from the Copa Sudamericana zone, 10 from the Libertadores and just five from relegation.

His arrival also means a reunion with old acquaintances. Gabriel Mercado y Andres D’Alessandro -current sports director of the club- shared stages with Díaz in River and San Lorenzo. This prior connection generates expectations of a quick adaptation and good harmony in the locker room.

“I am happy, happy and I want the team to be the protagonist,” said Díaz in his first words as Colorado coach. His debut will not leave room for waiting: from the first game he will be forced to respond with results to start the comeback that Inter needs.
