Rajasthan Royals beat LSG by 20 runs

Jaipur: Riding on Sanju Samson’s attack and Trent Boult’s brilliance, Rajasthan Royals (RR) started their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign with a win on home soil as RR defeated Sawai Mansingh at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Sunday, 20 1-run win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

For LSG, KL Rahul scored 58 runs while Nicholas Pooran played a crucial unbeaten inning of 64 runs. For RR, Trent Boult took two wickets, while Nandre Berger, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin and Sandeep Sharma took one wicket each.
Defending the target of 193 runs, Trent Boult gave Rajasthan Royals the first breakthrough as he dismissed Quinton de Kock for 4 runs. De Kock tried to hit a big one, but Nandre Berger stopped at long-on and took a brilliant catch at first. Game over.
In the third over, Boult gave another blow to Devdutt Padikkal. Burger then joined the wicket-taking party in style as he dismissed Ayush Badoni for 1. Badoni tried to hit a big one but the shot went in the air and Jos Buttler took a brilliant catch at mid-on.
However, after losing three wickets in quick succession, KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda took control and put together a good partnership, scoring runs for LSG at regular intervals. In the sixth over, both gave 15 runs to Ravichandran Ashwin, which included five runs from Wide and a six from Rahul.
Yuzvendra Chahal took the first wicket of the day and he dismissed the dangerous looking Deepak Hooda for 26 runs. Hooda tried to hit a big hit but his shot lacked timing as the ball went straight into the hands of Dhruv Jurel at deep midwicket.
After Hooda’s dismissal, explosive batsman Nicholas Pooran supported Rahul at the crease and both made a good partnership. Rahul scored a half-century in 35 balls.
Sandeep Sharma took his first wicket of the day and dismissed Rahul for 58 runs. Puran completed his half-century by hitting a four off Sandeep Sharma.
Ravichandran Ashwin gave a crucial breakthrough to Rajasthan Royals as he dismissed Marcus Stoinis for 3 runs. Ashwin bowled a difficult ball on leg stump as Stoinis hit it hard in search of a six, however, the ball went in the deep where Dhruv Jurel took an easy catch. ,
In the 19th over, Puran scored 11 runs by hitting two fours. Pooran and Krunal Pandya worked hard, but RR were too good in the end to start their campaign with a 20-run win over LSG.
Earlier, RR won the toss and decided to bat first. Samson’s brilliant inning of 82 runs and his 93-run partnership with Riyan Parag took his team to a total of 193/4 runs.
