Raising awareness of climate issues: The Aika Alliance recommends popularization at the regional level

The restitution workshop was held in Andrainarivo yesterday.

The Aika Alliance organized a workshop to report on its participation in the last climate conference of parties, organized in Dubai.

Popularize information relating to climate issues as much as possible. This is the objective of the Aika Alliance following its participation in the Climate Conference of the Parties (COP 28) held in Dubai. An ambition which would be motivated by the scope of the fight against climate change. Restitution workshops such as the one organized yesterday in Andrainarivo will thus be organized to inform as many stakeholders as possible. “ Information regarding the COP and climate issues should not be limited to Antananarivo. All regions of the island should benefit » asked Lucky Andrianirina, regional advisor to the Aika Alliance. The latter adds that actions in this direction have already been taken. A restitution workshop was organized in the town of Sambava, DIANA region, he notes. While Manakara, Morondava and Toliara should have their share of awareness and information soon. The challenge then consists, for these young people committed to the fight against climate change, of being able to cover all regions.

Constituents

Several points were put forward during yesterday’s workshop concerning Madagascar’s participation in the recent Climate Conference of the Parties. If being able to participate in this international event is one thing, carrying out the initiatives inherent in the decisions taken is another. The integration by the Aika Alliance of Constituents, “ COP observer groups » if we stick to Lucky Andrianirina’s explanations, would be an important step. This, to the extent that these groups can participate in debate and advocacy sessions and put forward proposals, or even negotiate. And that previously, the mission of speaking for the country was only held by delegations led by members of the government. In short, by integrating these groups, “ the Alliance can make the voice of the country heard ».
