Rain is forecast in certain areas of El Salvador for this Tuesday

This Tuesday, the authorities of the Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador launched the VII Population Census and VI Housing Census 2024, which will be 100% digital and will begin this Thursday, May 2, after 17 years without updated data that allows us to know exactly how many Salvadorans inhabit the territory.

The execution of this project is part of the function of generating basic statistics and censuses that President Nayib Bukele delegated to the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) since August 2022.

«The census will also allow us to know how Salvadorans live and what their main needs are. The objective is also to help the formulation of more effective public policies, which is why citizens were invited to participate and provide their information when they are visited,” declared the president of the BCR, Douglas Rodríguez. The head of the institution also revealed that More than 10,000 census takers and brigade supervisors will be deployed throughout the Salvadoran territory who have been trained to carry out their work and reach Salvadoran homes. “This ballot will allow us to know the academic level of the Salvadoran population, the use and possession of information technologies, as well as the economic characteristics they have and knowing about international emigration,” Rodríguez explained.

The census involves a million-dollar investment in cutting-edge technology, as reported by the president of the BCR. He also highlighted that it has the support of international financial organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). “The information provided by Salvadorans has the guarantee of confidentiality, in accordance with article 25 of the Special Law of Statistics and Censuses (…) In addition to obtaining relevant information, through the census jobs are being generated at the local level throughout the country, since the people in charge of collecting the information are inhabitants of the different departments and districts of our country,” said the president of the BCR, Douglas Rodríguez.
