Bi-annual elections of Jhenaidah Press Club were completed in a festive atmosphere. M Raihan, representative of Ekushey TV and Janakantha newspaper, was elected as president and Faisal Ahmed, representative of SA TV and Daily Vanik Barta newspaper, was elected as general secretary.
After counting the votes on Thursday (February 29) afternoon, the Election Commissioner announced the results. President M Raihan won by getting 49 votes and General Secretary Faisal Ahmed got 26 votes.
Earlier, the election started from 10 am and continued till 2 pm. 38 candidates contested for 21 posts in the election. The number of voters in the election is 66.
It is known that Sultan Al Ekram representative of our economy newspaper, Daily Desh Rupantar and BanglaNews24 representative M Rabiul Islam Rabi have been elected vice president.
Khondkar Jahurul Islam Hero, representative of Vijay TV, and Khurshid Mohammad Saleh, representative of Amar Sangbad newspaper, were elected as co-general editors.
Besides, Shahanur Alam of Daily Dhaka Times as Office Editor, Saddam Hossain of Channel 24 as Publicity Editor, Khairul Islam Nirab of Daily Swadhin Bangla as Sports Editor, SM Mehdi Hasan Ziku of Global TV as Literature and Library Editor, Roknuzzaman Milon of Daily Bhorer Paper as Cultural Editor. , Staff reporter Lotus Rahman Sohag of Time TV has been elected as information and technology editor.
M Saiful Mabud of Kaler Kantha, Azad Rahman, own reporter of Prothom Alo, Aminul Islam Liton of Daily Manabzamin, Asif Iqbal, news editor of Daily Navachitra, Asif Iqbal Makhan of Banglavision TV, Rafiqul Islam Montu of Baisakhi TV, Mustafa Kamal of Daily Ekhontogar Paper, Daily Omar Ali Sohag of Lakhokantha and Rezwanul Islam Bappi of Daily Ekusher Bani.
Jhenaidah court lawyer Subhash Biswas Milan, Tanmoy Kumar Kundu and Kazi Mehdi Hasan Prince were on duty as Election Commissioner.
