Rabat hosts a cultural engineering conference

The capital, Rabat, is expected to receive the International Conference on Cultural Engineering and Heritage Development in its first session concerned with cultural and creative industries in Africa and the Arab world, which is organized by the School of Information Sciences in Rabat, in partnership with UNESCO, the National Center for Scientific and Technical Research, and the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information.

The conference, which is expected to be organized on December 4 and 5 of the current year 2024, aspires to be “an international platform for exchange and thinking,” with a first session that aims to “approach the cultural and creative industries at the level of Africa and the Arab world, and study their development in the context of post-modernism.” It is a context that is based on cognitive, intangible and digital aspects.”

The conference is scheduled to approach “the complexities of the cultural and creative industries in Africa and the Arab world, their specificities, the problems resulting from the development of these industries, economic and virtual growth, the reality of job creation, the development of fragile areas, the specificity of cultural entrepreneurship, and the position occupied by the cultural and creative industries in National and international markets, issues related to diversity in Africa and the Arab world, and societal and cultural responsibility, according to an interdisciplinary vision.”

According to the program that Hespress reviewed, the appointment’s work revolves around “cultural and creative industries, development and social and economic inclusion in Africa and the Arab world,” “cultural policies and management of cultural industries in Africa and the Arab world,” and “cultural and creative leadership in Africa and the Arab world.” Challenges and prospects for developing African and Arab cultural heritage.

In addition to the interventions of researchers selected by the scientific committee of the conference, it is expected to organize two lectures by Nabhan bin Harith Al Harrasi, President of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information, on the topic: “Opportunities for Investment in Culture in the Arab World,” and by Eugene Ebodi, Director of the Chair of African Arts and Literature of the Academy. The Kingdom of Morocco, on the topic: “Cultural Diplomacy and Cultural Industries: The Time of Africa.”

The conference announced that the deadline for receiving participants’ abstracts is June 10, 2024. The complete research papers will be received “no later than October 2, 2024.”
