Many traditions are associated with the biggest Christian holidays, which commemorate Christ’s resurrection. Some of them date back to pre-Christian times, when people celebrated the arrival of spring, the awakening of nature and new life. Because they are so-called floating holidays, they start at a different time each year and their date is derived from the first full moon to the vernal equinox (March 20). It can be anywhere from March 22nd to April 25th. This year, the so-called Passion Week begins on Sunday, March 24 and will last until Monday, April 1.
And what would the holidays be if we didn’t also celebrate them with good food and drink! Do you know when, according to tradition, you should bake Yiddish, Easter stuffing or sweet lamb?
