Putin – Red Square / “We will not allow anyone to threaten us”

“Russia will do everything to prevent a global conflict. But at the same time we will not allow anyone to threaten us,” Vladimir Putin pointed out during his speech on “Victory Day”, the anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

The Russian president accused the West of risking a global conflict and pointed out that “our army is always ready”.

Putin spoke of “arrogant” Western elites who forgot the decisive role the Soviet Union played in defeating Nazi Germany and fueling conflicts around the world.

The Russian president in his speech in Red Square after calling for a minute’s silence, ended his speech with the following words: “For Russia! For the win! Ask!” signaling thousands of soldiers to respond with three loud cheers.

In Red Square, Russian army units and tanks paraded while fighter planes flew in the air with World War II veterans watching the parade wearing the St. George ribbon.
