Putin’s visit is expected to deepen relations between Moscow and Hanoi. President Putin visited North Korea before Vietnam. Putin is visiting the Southeast Asian country of Vietnam with several top Russian ministers and a large delegation of businessmen.
Earlier, Putin arrived in Pyongyang on Wednesday (June 19) morning. North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong Un was already waiting at the airport at that time. Kim welcomed Putin at the airport.
It is reported that a high-level meeting between Putin and Kim Jong Un took place during this visit. The meeting held in the capital of North Korea focused on defense and economy.
A video showed Kim holding hands and hugging Putin at the airport. Later, Putin was taken to his destination in a motorcade. Both sides of the road are decorated with Russian flags and pictures of Putin.
This was Putin’s first visit to North Korea in 24 years. Relations between Moscow and Pyongyang have intensified since the attack on Ukraine. Because both countries are fighting against Western sanctions.
