Russia is forcing its soldiers, who walk on crutches, to return to the front lines, although typhus and cholera are said to be spreading among the fighters.
Bacterial infections that have spread on the front lines are causing additional problems for Russia during its attacks on Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin desperately trying to move more strike groups to critical locations. Crippled soldiers are denied medical treatment and told they must return to the front line.
This denial of medical care and pressure to redeploy comes at a time when there were shocking reports that typhus and cholera had broken out on the Russian front lines. Pro-war blogger Anastasia Kaševarova shared footage of crippled soldiers, missing limbs, returning to the front.
“We need surgery”
“I cannot watch men die on crutches and remain silent,” said Kaševarová. The men were sent to the most dangerous parts of the front.
The walking wounded of the 26th Armored Regiment, 47th Division pleaded: “More than fifty of us came from the hospitals, we are the remnants of three companies. Our leadership sends us in groups on combat missions. But all of us need surgery and hospital treatment…”
“The documents we received from the hospitals clearly state that we should be given time off due to our injuries. We need further treatment and rehabilitation. None of this was fulfilled, on the contrary. Wounded soldiers are sent on combat missions,” the wounded soldiers continued.
The official death toll of typhoid and cholera has not been released, but a number of deaths have been confirmed. Russian troops reportedly receive only 18 liters of water per month at the front and have been dependent on dirty water from rivers and wells ever since.
