This time, Alexei Navalny’s wife, Yulia, accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of mocking Orthodox Christian values. Al-Jazeera, a Qatar-based media outlet, reported this on Saturday (24 February).
He complained that Navalny’s cremation was not arranged and his body was not returned to his family. In a video released on Saturday, Yulia said to Putin, “You tortured him alive.” Now they are torturing his dead body. Making fun of dead bodies.
He said, give my husband’s dead body. We want to bury him according to religion.
Earlier, Navalny’s mother, Udmila, alleged that investigators were pressuring her son to agree to a secret burial. And he was given three hours to make a decision in this regard. Otherwise, the authorities threatened to bury Navalny in the prison where he died. Navalny’s body was decomposing, they said.
Navalny, a Russian opposition leader and staunch critic of Putin, was serving a 19-year sentence in the Arctic Circle penal colony on charges of extremism. There he suddenly fell and lost consciousness while walking on February 16 and later died.
But a week after his death, Navalny’s body has not yet been returned to his family. Not even buried. Rather, the prison authorities are making various arguments about his body, Yuliar complained.
