The big cleanup of Telewizja Polska staff began only a dozen days ago and is unlikely to end soon. Even among supporters of the revolution there are many people critical of some decisions of the new management. The departure of journalists associated with “Wiadomości” and TVP Info was obvious to everyone, even most of those involved, but some of the most drastic changes raise objections in public opinion. The Poles reacted particularly strongly to the dismissal of Marek Sierocki, who was replaced by the almost unknown Mateusz Jędraś.
Even before Christmas the media had talked about the possible end of the collaboration between Telewizja Polska and Przemysław Babiarz. The popular sports commentator and host of the game show “Va Banque” evidently could not be sure whether there would be a place for him in Woronicza after the new agreement. Furthermore, the fate of the program itself was also supposed to hang in the balance.

The anxiety of Przemysław Babiarz fans during the New Year was certainly further fueled by the fact that in the meantime another sports commentator said goodbye to TVP, and over time expanded his activities in Woronicza to include entertainment programmes. Public television unexpectedly, not to say “overnight”, said goodbye to Rafał Patyra. No wonder viewers were also worried about the fate of his older colleague. Luckily (most likely) wrong.
A special article regarding the future of production appeared on the Facebook profile of “Va Banque” on Thursday evening. The production welcomed fans in the new year and then announced the start of recording for the next series of episodes: “Today we started recording the next series of episodes of Va Banque! Greetings to you directly from the TVP2 studio in Woronicza 17. Things are going well” it’s happening, the works are underway and we’ll see each other in the spring” – we read in the press release.
Importantly, the message was accompanied by a photo of Przemysław Babiarz and Mrs. Kasia handing out gifts to the winners. All signs indicate that, at least in the spring, we won’t be saying goodbye to either the journalist or the format itself.
