Proud to be LGBT in La Laguna

On the afternoon of this Saturday, June 22, Torreón vibrated with the colors of the rainbow in the XVII LGBT Pride March, which began at 6:45 p.m. and brought together more than 10 thousand people. Under the motto “There is nothing to cure, we are not sick,” the march focused on the fight against conversion therapies, sending a strong message of acceptance and self-love.

The event began with a rally at 5:00 p.m. near the Plaza Mayor of Torreón. From early on, attendees began to gather, creating a festive and energetic atmosphere.. Raymundo Valadez Andrade, organizer of the movement, expressed his satisfaction with the broad participation and growing support of the community and allies.

The march included the participation of 11 floats that, decorated with creativity and care, toured the streets of Torreón. In addition, two trams joined the parade; one of them specially enabled to transport members of the community with a disability, and the other for the children of parents from the LGBT community.

The route began on Galeana Street, taking the road to Hidalgo Avenue, continuing to Zaragoza, then along Juárez Avenue to Ramón Corona and finally along Allende Avenue, culminating at the starting point. During the journey, the streets They were filled with music, dance and messages of love and acceptance. Attendees waved rainbow flags and signs with messages of support and pride.

The theme of the march event was “Your Sexual Health” and that is why the Ambulatory Center for the Prevention and Care of AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections was present at the event, who carried out rapid tests for HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis C.

Those who underwent the tests were given cake, gifts and participated in a raffle for bottles of wine and liquor, all of this, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of health and their life with prevention and detection in time. .
