The Council of Ministers approved the project to establish Fish Emergence Zones (ZEP) in different regions of the country. According to the Ministry of Fisheries and the Blue Economy (MPEB), four zones have been identified and work to establish these ZEPs is already underway. In the Analamanga region, the work is already 75% complete. In the Boeny region, the ZEP development work is 45% complete. In the Fitovinany region, they are at 55% and in the Anosy region at 30%. According to information, more than 20,000 fish farmers will directly benefit from this project. In addition to the establishment of these emergence zones, the MPEB is also continuing its actions to promote fish farming in the four corners of the country. Fry and equipment for fish farming have already been distributed. “145,000 pieces of equipment and 157,739 fry, as well as nets and other equipment for small-scale fishing totaling 11,266 were given to the beneficiaries. Training is also organized to improve fish farming techniques, particularly for the breeding of fish, shrimp, and other species. Added to this are training courses for algae cultivation. This action aims to reach 43,000 beneficiaries over 100 days. Until yesterday, 18,238 people have already been trained in this context » indicated the supervisory ministry.
