Professional Promise, Religious Organizations Take Advantage of Mining Permits for the Community

JAKARTA – The Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board promised to utilize the Special Mining Business Permit (WIUPK) Area regulations to religious organizations responsibly. It is believed that the government’s decision to issue this regulation will have a positive impact on organizational management and the welfare of the people.

“NU will prepare a business and management structure that will guarantee professionalism and accountability in both management and utilization of results,” said PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf or Gus Yahya, Thursday (13/6/2024).

The WIUPK for Religious Mass Organizations is contained in Government Regulation Number 25 of 2024 concerning Amendments to PP Number 96 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Mineral and Coal Mining Business Activities. He appreciated President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) for issuing the PP.

According to him, WIUPK for Religious Mass Organizations is a responsibility that must be carried out as well as possible so that the noble goals of the policy are achieved.

“NU is ready with qualified human resources, complete organizational tools and a business network strong enough to carry out these duties and responsibilities,” said Gus Yahya.

It is known that the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia explained that PP WIUPK is an affirmative effort by the state so that religious organizations have the same opportunities as business groups to obtain mining permits.

Bahlil emphasized that there are still strict requirements that must be met if a religious organization wants to manage a mine, including that the religious organization must have a business entity capable of managing the mining business.

“After the IUP is held by a religious mass organization, we will look for a partner. So this IUP cannot be transferred, it is very strict,” said Bahlil.
