Owners have demanded that the country’s ports be opened for 24 hours to keep the import-export activities of the garment exporters seamless. Otherwise, they warned that they would not be able to take responsibility for the workers’ salary.
Kazi Moniruzzaman, the president of the Combined Council of the Council and former President of the Bangladesh garment manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), made the demand.
He made the demand at the Bangladesh garment manufacturers and exporters’ association (BGMEA) in a hotel in the capital on Wednesday (May 27th).
Kazi Moniruzzaman said, “Industry is in different types of internal problems. We are in great trouble. The headline on the TV is that some owners are selling cars or houses and salaries are being paid. It is very sad, shame. That’s why a safe exit policy is mentioned. We want to do that. ‘
The business leader claimed that import and export were being disrupted due to problems at the port. Exports from China come to Chittagong port on 7 days. But it takes 5 days to come to Dhaka.
“From today’s event, we demand many issues, reforms, you do it,” he said. But it destroys art, not by our burial. ‘
“I would like to say that the port should be opened for 24 hours from today. Otherwise, the owners will not be able to take the worker’s salary. I am not exporting, not importing, what will we pay? The container is lying on the street, where can I get money, where will I give a laborer’s salary bonus? ‘ Moniruzzaman questioned.
He also said, “If we want to swim with our hands and feet, we will not be able to swim, we have to keep our hands and feet open to swim.”
Brigadier General (retd) Dr. Labor and Shipping Advisor to the Secretariat on Tuesday (May 27th). M Sakhawat Hossain said that all their workers will be paid by selling land, houses, factory and other immovable property owned by TNZ and Mahmud Group. The authorities of the group have been strictly instructed in this regard.
