Prisons / A prison officer and a private citizen were arrested for drug trafficking

According to the announcement of the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces, in the early hours of Monday, March 25, 2024, a correctional officer was arrested, dealing in narcotic substances, following “orders” from prisoners, inside a Detention Shop, while the private person who supplied him was also arrested.

A related complaint was filed, for the investigation of which a special operational team was set up, where in the evening hours of Sunday, March 24, 2024, the prison officer involved was found to be procuring narcotic substances and tablets from the private individual, which he then tried to import into the detention center.

The actions of the Internal Affairs Police were immediate. They immobilized those involved and a case file was filed for the -as the case may be- offenses of dereliction of duty and the law on drugs as complicity.

From the searches carried out in total – among other things – 11.2 grams of cannabis and -53- tablets falling under the drug law were found and confiscated.

Those arrested, with the case file filed against them, are taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
