On Eid, Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur has distributed special food to inmates, sarees, lungis and special food to children of day care centers and new clothes. Apart from this, Eid congregations have been held separately for the prisoners in the prisons.
On the day after Eid, the prisoners will be given the opportunity to meet and cook food for their relatives. During this time, the prison guards on duty at the main gate of the prison will allow relatives to enter the prison by searching their bags and food while entering the prison.
Senior Jail Superintendent Subrata Kumar Bala of Kashimpur High Security Central Jail said that there are about 2,300 prisoners in his jail. Among them, 1,36 people were hanged, more than 300 were sentenced to life. Here, on the eve of Eid, lungis were given to helpless prisoners. 20 congregations of Eid prayers are held for the prisoners inside this prison.
The prisoners’ food list consisted of pies, muri in the morning, meat, polao, salad, cold drinks in the afternoon and white rice, roo fish and muridghan at night.
Superintendent of Kashimpur Central Jail Part-1. Shahjahan Ahmed said that there are 1,313 prisoners in the prison. Besides, there are more than a hundred hanged prisoners, more than half a hundred life convicts among the prisoners. There are three Eid congregations for the prisoners in this prison.
In the jail part-1, the prisoners’ food list was pies-muri in the morning, meat, polao, salad, betel nut, cold drinks in the afternoon. And in the night there was white rice, potato stew, rue fish, murighant. Besides, lungis have been given to poor prisoners before Eid.
Superintendent of Kashimpur Prison Part-2. Amirul Islam said that the total number of prisoners in his prison is over two and a half thousand. Among them there are more than 100 death row convicts and 500 life sentence convicts.
Five Eid congregations were held for the prisoners in this jail. Apart from this, the prisoners’ food list included pies-muri in the morning, meat, polao, betel nut, cold drinks in the afternoon and white rice, alur dum, rui fish and murighanta at night. Lungis have been given to poor prisoners in this prison even on Eid.
Shahjahan Ahmed, Acting Jail Superintendent of Kashimpur Central Women’s Jail, said that there are 484 inmates here. Besides, there are 52 children accompanying the prisoners in the day care center of this prison. There are 33 death row convicts and 40 life sentence convicts. On this day children are given new clothes and chocolates and chips along with other special food. An Eid congregation for women has been held here.
The food list in the women’s jail consisted of pies-muri in the morning, meat-polao in the afternoon, cold drinks, betel nut, salad and sweets and white rice, alur dum, murighant and ruimach at night.
