A couple sued an amusement park in South Carolina, USA, for injuries the man suffered while riding the roller coaster. According to what they expressed, the game caused damage to his spinal cord that left him quadriplegic, local media published.
Kul Sannyashi and his wife Gangia Adhikari filed lawsuits against Family Kingdom on June 20 for the incident, which occurred on July 23, 2021. That day, they visited the park and rode an old wooden roller coaster, inaugurated in 1966, which had to be rebuilt after Hurricane Hugo in 1989.
The victim’s lawsuit details that he had to undergo surgeries and expensive medical treatments, hospitalizations and intensive care for long periods. Additionally, he requires 24-hour nursing and care support, suffering extreme pain, mental anguish and depression due to his permanent injuries.
For this reason, Sannyashi seeks financial compensation that responds to his condition, the inability to attend to his “regular affairs and duties” and his inability to generate profits.
The wife’s lawsuit
Adhikari accuses the park of negligence, lack of care, failing to operate attractions safely and failing to warn visitors of “latent dangers.” He also claims that no steps were taken to make the roller coaster safe and that he was encouraged to use it even though it could cause serious injuries.
For his part, lawyer Morgan Martin, whose firm represents the couple, expressed that there is numerous criticism of the roller coaster for being “violent and rough” and assured that the accusation suggests that “you arrive safely and leave quadriplegic.” “It is a sad, sad day for that young man, who is in a horrible condition,” he concluded.
